The King

Jamie Chipman 1968 (Toronto)

The king

I’m the king and don’t want to be, but the kingdom I love depend on me.

Every day l go out and do my best, but it would be nice just to sit back and take a rest.

I know no one wants this job so I can never quit, but it’s chipping away at me bit by bit.

Every day is hard and I always try but most  days I just want to sit down and cry

I feel like the world is on my shoulders and in your eyes l always do wrong,  I just can’t give anymore there is nothing left at all.

I know one day that the king will fall ,it will be a sad day for sure because l will disappointed you all.

There will be no one to complain to, no one to watch over you, to love you and think of you just I like I do

So if you see me please don’t take off the kings mask, I don’t want you to see how beat down I truly am

When it’s all over and my time is through just remember everything I did, I did it for you.
