2099
Conceived in the womb,
Closer to God in His spiritual tomb,
But, like Adam, cast out of the cradle of Eden.
Only if Adam had embraced the tree of life,
Instead of taking that single bite.
Eve's weakness momentarily,
Falling prey to the devil and deceived,
Adam's love of Eve, and his knowledge from that tree,
All severed our Creator's fellowship with thee,
As we were cast out of Eden and died spiritually.
Throughout earth's properties,
Far from salvation, and close to the enemy,
the devil, sin, and death are stalking me.
I am feeling the pain of man's treachery and debauchery,
which causes man's downward trajectory.
As one of God's covenant people, his hate is all over me.
Familiar, man against man, remains earth's status quo,
the ancient philosophy, akin to idolatry,
that impinges on God's perfect harmony,
the "do as I please," from the enemy's army.
Satan tries to accuse me and intimidate me,
with his lies and savagery toward God's family.
Sickened by what I saw,
until not wanting to see anymore.
Still, who has dominion over earth, I cannot ignore.
Who offered Jesus man's earthly kingdoms from the past to forever more?
Who wants to place doubt into our faith?
Who wants to usurp "The Most High's" place?
Nevertheless, I am still held captive by pleasure and survival: Earth's competing rivals.
Hence, scanning the world's headlines,
the signs of the times,
I suddenly realize that to slander, man's greed, global warming, cataclysmic events, and new diseases to the body and mind,
I am third eye blind; and, I feel that I am running out of time.
Begging for entry into new earth, new heaven.
Since the church is already gone, ascended.
Can a fallen sinner,
Rise by getting on his knees,
Can it be as simple,
As believing what he reads?
Someone stood in my path and looked me in my eyes.
"I was here before you were alive; no one will deny!"
"I am the master of slander and the father of the lie."
"My people will hate you; and although you will try, your promise of eternal life in paradise, will never be realized."
As I walked past him, I heard him say, "I will always be around, no need to say good-bye."
I've been told what to think for so long,
Now all original thought is almost gone.
Running frantically through the cities of my soul,
Jehovah hears me, is endeared by me, pleading, praying to go home.
About this poem
2099 is a spiritual poem about the approaching tribulation or "end of days." It referenced Adam and Eden in the first stanza, and man's fall from grace. It concludes in the last stanza with a spiritual transformation and a return to grace (new covenant); and, the journey and home He provides. Although no one knows when Christ will return, the title 2099 is Prince's 1999 influenced.--a nod to his enduring musical genius. His piercing lyrics, "Mommy, why does everybody have a bomb?" still echos in my mind. more »
