The Uncanny Lover

Joanna Thompson 1985 (Milwaukee, wi)

One day I'm pretty, next day that's not it
Until I realized, he was a narcissist
Love me one day, next day it's hate
I hope to find real love in them before it's too late
Restless nights, violent fights, I can't seem to get this love thing right
Helpless tears, soulful tears, nothing seems right in life
The man I love just pulled pulled out a knife
I belong to them, this guarantees life
I make a run for it cause without a doubt
This is not love
I need to get out
Gunshots ring out
I run to be brave
But in the midst of fire it was me I could not save
I should have known this day would come
Where now my soul on earth roams
I hope this helps another young lady before God brings you home
So don't let him tell you it's your clothes, your attitude or hair
Be smart
And get the hell outta there!
