Through these eyes

Ratchel Plante 1979 (Houston)

Through these eyes
If only you could see
The beauty
Behind the tormented
Curse of knowing
And loving
Unconditionally

Tears shed
Empty dreams of hope
The longing
And yearning of
Someone
That existed
Only a century ago
But already
Forgotten

Through these eyes
If only you could see
The knife tat
Strikes my heart
Pride
And sanity
Trying to
Keep up
With him
The one
And only
That truly
Understands
Without impurities
Such
As myself

I am
The beast
He
The beauty
In this
Crazy
Love affair

Through these eyes
If only you could see
How his
Love
Of and for
Me
Is like
A blanket
Laid upon me
In this cold
Everyone around me
Seems to see
And know
But I am blind
To this love

Through these eyes
If only you could see
I love you
My beauty
Will you
Be only mine
Belong to only one
Belong to me
Marry this
Beast

Through these eyes
If only you could see.
