SUNSHINE
mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)
Letting go of the past for it no longer serves any type of purpose, all the regrets that I never had, I say, release me from those chains that no longer weigh me down. I am living in the present, where I am meant to be. each step, another moment.
They were upset and tried labeling me as a whore because I refused to sip on their Kool-Aid in the back seat of the company's car, but yet I am proud of my scraped knees. I never backed up, and I never gave in. I kept asking for more without ever saying what they wanted to hear, the words thank you and please.
Here I sit on the porch in my grandfather's rocking chair, looking at the sunshine and remembering the words as a young boy he whispered in my ear. he said kid you either stand tall or you don't there is no such thing as fear.
Believe what you must, I am not dead and I am sure as hell not for sale. believe in who you must, I got to love you just have lust. I am not feeling like myself, I am no God, but I am an idol for hire, waiting to be called as I sit inside the rays of this sunshine that is now mine
