Crumble
Jennifer L Perkins 1982 (St. Augustine)
It feels like the walls are caving in
On a rollercoaster that only spins
Out of control
Drama and chaos unfolds
And looking for food
The bread is stale with mold
Busy highways
They are flat and some flaring by
We ask of the skies
To bring nigh
The fruit and honey that is it's promise
To change
Chick peas into hummus
To change fouls into fuel
To change right from cruel
To stand
And enemies are our stools
We should be laughing
And Not the fool
You say the words
Are our tools
Crushing at every moment
I tug my hair
And in your eyes an
Intense stare.
Go hither or there
None should compare
You pick me up
If I stumble
But, oh, how sometimes I just
Crumble.
