Solitude

Loneliness is something I've never been bothered with,
For I have always craved for solitude's touch;
A covetous yearning, a deep-seated desire,
For a moment of peace, a quiet retire.

In the hustle and bustle of life's busy lane,
I find solace in the silence of my domain;
An escape from the chaos, a haven for my mind,
Where I can wander free, unbridled and unconfined.

The world may seem barren, an empty expanse,
Yet in my solitude, I find a chance
To reflect, to grow, to seek my true essence,
And nurture my soul with gracious presence.

There are those who fear the stillness, the void,
But for me, it's a blissful state to be enjoyed;
For in the silence, I hear a symphony of sound,
The sweet melody of my heart, beating profound.

Loneliness is a fleeting thought, a transient plight,
For in my haven, I bask in my inner light;
A radiant flame, a beacon in the dark,
Leading me on, as I embark.

So let the world spin, in its frenzied pace,
I'll seek my peace, in this sacred space;
And though I may be alone, I'll never be lonely,
For my solitude is my truest company.

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
