My Grand”Mother”

Looking across the room, what do I see?
An elderly lady with a book on her knee.
Dressed in her night gown, she is reading aloud.
With her Bible in hand, she reads The Word so proud.
If I didn’t know her I wouldn’t have known,
That her day had thrown her a couple of stones.
Her husband was normally on the couch were I lay.
But tonight he was sleeping in a bed far away.
Most women would be begging or even pleading.
But not Her, for her Faith is not depleting.
She knows her Maker and has relied on Him before.
His powerful healing will walk him through that door.
“God’s going to heal him.” She says with certainty.
A smile on her face with no indication of worry.
Her strength is from God. Couldn’t be from any other.
Wonder-woman, you have nothing on my Grand”Mother” !!

About this poem

The day my Grandfather had a stroke, I went to spend the night with my Grandmother while he was in the hospital being treated. We both slept on the furniture in the living room. I woke up in the middle of the night to see her ready her Bible and praying aloud and worshipping God. It was the most faith in Christ I have ever witnessed. She is my hero! (Papaw is alive and doing well today!)
