Poetry

Ashley Torres 1993 (Pennsylvania)

Every poem I create,
Saves me from another mistake,
Take away the shame I say,
Leave the ashes in the tray,

I become everything I write about,
There's nothing left to fight about,
Many days I don't feel like waking,

These broken pieces keep on breaking,
Anger, emptiness, desperation and more,
If only poetry could heal every sore.
