Let me wonder

Wonder what would happen if I left my mind on the bedside,
near a lamp, a book and a memory of us.
Wonder if you’d still call my phone in the middle of the night,
always too kind to ignore but too tired to reply.

Wonder what would happen if I met you again on the street side,
would you avoid me or stop and admit that you hate my guts.
Wonder if what they told me has always been right,
always too close to my heart but too far from the eye.

I guess wonder won’t take me anywhere as it only brought us here.
Maybe it was a sign that God sent down just to make you disappear.
I’m not saying that I miss you and make all of this just sappy,
I’m not saying your words hurt me but yeah maybe i’m a little less happy.

About this poem

I recently stop talking with my life long best friend, ha found a new friend group and stopped having any type of contact with me. He was my only friend for so long and seeing him being so happy without me made me wonder if maybe what we had was just superficial for him. That’s what I allowed myself to do, to wonder and imagine from his perspective and his point of view, what we had had. I do hope he’s happy even though he made me the saddest I’ve ever been. I still believe I’ll find my happiness eventually, but for now i’ll wonder.
