Anger is a buzzing bee

Joseph Clark 1996 (England)

Anger is a buzzing bee
that stings upon the hour,
its wings distract the fragile moon
of depression’s fragrant flower,

the blue buzz of moonlight
sings softly like a hymn,
yet melancholy thoughts and sounds
repeat a mantra dim,

it hurts to laugh and cry and languish.
It often feels an ache,
that bee that buzzes on the hour -
it means so much to hate!

so empty the message here within
as empty as the storm,
yet bitter as the daylight comes,
it never stops to mourn.

About this poem

Pretty angry today. Thought about how anger feeds upon sadness, which introduced the image of an angry bee gorging on a dying flower… kinda just ran with it.
