Mourning melody

I used to dread the chirps of the morning birds
As they served as an alarm for a dreadful day
Coincidentally when you came along
The chirps and cheeps faded away
The annoyance turned into a song
A melody of great meaning
I now had a reason to wake up
And see the sunrise beaming
But now the chirps are back
As dreadful as can be
Yet they are the only reminder
Of all our un-dreadful memories
