HOW MANY TIMES

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

I died so many times in the hearts, eyes, and minds of many lovers, but the death that I felt the most was when I became my ghost. I can not believe that I am having these dreams once again. They call me back to see things I forgot about, like fair-weather friends.

I keep hearing on the weather channel that the heatwave starts tomorrow at sunrise. I say it's a lie because it already feels like I'm in hell. I keep looking outside and seeing flames, yet the fire comes from within.

How many steps back must I take to go one step forward? I keep hearing damn, you're so brave, and then I keep hearing you're a fucking coward. You need to fight those demons and slay the beast, so you need to go west than east.

How many times must I die to see the light? How many, if not all, days must I fight? How many times must I die to realize I am some angel in heaven? Sent how many times must I die to repent

I will continue to fall deep down that dark black hole until I say those words I refuse to die to this feeling anymore, so on its face I'm slamming the door. and starting to live
