Thoughts to Myself
Ashley Moneè 1988
You ever made a decision
Then immediately after realize it was a mistake
Now you’re drowning in misery
Dealing with a heart, u didn’t break
Love should be a crime
Forbidden in every state
Just a person promising sweet nothings
With a soul full of hate
How dare you stare in my eyes
Every time, saying “I love you”
What about the time you promised
To be my best friend and protector too
Protect me from who?
The person behind your disguise
I gave you my heart
& in return you gave me lies
Staying out pass curfew
Pictures of her in your phone
Meeting girls at bars
At times not coming home
Here is my problem,
You make me feel so insecure
When all I ever did was keep it a hundred
Every intention was always pure
Problem #2
If this Is the truth, why didn’t I leave
Why am I choosing to be mishandled
Waking up everyday, just to grieve
Soul ties are so real
& cause of you, I am weak
My mind, body, and soul is broken
And that’s my problem # 3
Until I have the strength
To walk away & be free
My prayer is you do right
& be the man you proclaimed to be
My last and final prayer
Is for me to wake up
Look in the mirror, see my worth
& when it comes to you, not give a f*ck
I loved you more than life
And In exchanged you took mine
You were the one in prison
But I feel like I’m doing the time
If you looked me in my eyes
& noticed the pain you cause
Would you become a better man
And treat me like a Queen , or nah?!
