The Second Kind

I've known two kinds of journeys through
My many years of life.
The kind that kids are taken to
And those I took my wife.

I think that I enjoyed each one,
At least when I remember fun.
The rest were those of childhood years
That time erodes and disappears.

The second kind of journeys are
The kind without a plane
Or camper or a family car,
That leaves a budget drained.

When you have books, your mind can go
To deserts or where there's always snow.
Your journey can go anyplace
In time or somewhere out in space.

Imagination is the ship
On oceans or in space.
You are the captain on that trip;
Adventures to embrace!
