Progressions

Progressions

The rainbow reminds me the storm is over now.
The morning tells me that the night has melted away
Light vanquishes the darkness in the room somehow
Logic says yesterday will soon become today.

We made sense and we fit like a glove
The future was certain and a given
You were steadfast and true, my love
But this emptiness, it’s not living.

When you left with no word spoken
Into the Father’s arms you ran
As my loving, hurting heart was broken
Your suffering ended and mine began.

This is not the life we had planned
Part of me torn from my side -
Alone, without holding your hand
But Your Love, not ending, ever my guide.

Please, God, give me strength to live and grow
As the tree bends in the storm winds
Give me wisdom to wait and to know
When the next chapter begins.

About this poem
