The Lighthouse

Jamie Tierney 1991 (Cardiff)

The lighthouse stood tall, beaming sentinel
Guiding of ships streaming
Light pierced darkness, sea gleaming
Warning danger, rocks seeming

Keeper watched, foghorn sounded clear and loud
Mournful blast when ship near
Countless saved lives since premiere
Unyielding symbol of mere.

About this poem

Englyn – “Every human is guided by an inner compass that points toward the Light, revealing truth and direction amidst decisions. All human spiritual beliefs ultimately seek the Light in ways differing only in form and function.”
