The life I loved

James Oakley 1991 (Hull)

The life I loved

I look back on the life I've lived
And I see those difficult days
But I also see those good ones
And the friends along the way

I feel like I was born with anxiety
Running through my veins
Making me feel breathless
Like I'm drowning in the rain

But this is the life I live
And this is the life I love
There's a future still to come
And I'm building it for us

Feelings are never ending
There's torture in my mind
No one can make me feel as bad
As me myself and I

I can be my own worst enemy
I put myself into the ground
With the thoughts that keep on coming
From thin air they come down

But this is the life I live
And this is the life I love
There's a future still to come
And I'm building it
I'm building it
I'm building it for us

Sometimes I feel these feelings
And there's no reason for them to show
And it makes me feel more stupid
Because I shouldn't be so low

People say you should remember
You could have it worse
Think yourself lucky
Your not that guy in the Hurst

But this is the life I live
And this is the life I love
There's a future still to come
And I'm building it for us

I've built a life for myself
With a wife and two kids
I also have a select few friends
Which is more than enough for me

I strive to be better
Than I ever was before
Sometimes it makes me struggle
But it helps me even more

But this is the life I live
And this is the life I love
There's a future still to come
And I'm building it
I'm building it
I'm building it for us

It's difficult to see the good
When the lows can hit so hard
And it can feel like the low points
Will never ever go

And it's hard to be thankful
When you can't think what you've got
But only think what you want
And want to speed things up

But this is the life I live
And this is the life I love
There's a future still to come
And I'm building it for us

I'm not saying there won't be hard times
I'm not saying you'll only feel ups
But you need to remember
What you have not that life sucks

I'm not saying that I am healed
But my happiness as grow
And I always know I'm wanted
In person or on the phone

But this is the life I live
And this is the life I love
There's a future still to come
And I'm building it
I'm building it
I'm building it for us

I'm not going to say my life is perfect
I can have struggles most days
But I would like to say I'm happy
I'm here
I'm surrounded
I am loved
