True Passion
True Passion, so sadly misunderstood,
As chasing desires selfish, carefree,
Rather than what it truly ought to be:
Suffering for the sake of something good.
It’s not a thrill, although call it some would,
Nor a burning pleasure, as others see,
But bearing trials of a high degree,
Patiently, kindly, as much as one could.
A passionate man, in selfless fashion,
Endures all kinds of pains for his love’s sake,
Just as Christ had done throughout His Passion,
However his heart and body may ache;
And he does so with heartfelt compassion,
Asking for nothing of his own to take.
