Mr. Perry
Mr. Perry owned a ride
That would snap your head back with much surprise
Not only in second but, again in third
From then on you took him at his word
You were held back firm in the seat for a quarter mile
Never turning to see young Perry's smile
With nothing to hold on to but your guts below
At a hundred and twenty, it's an eleven second show
With the front end nearly off the ground
Flattened springs held the rear-end down
Heated tires held their grip from the raging torque
That rocketed the Chevy in this two lane sport
After crossing the line first he'd back her down
Half a mile more he would ease through town
Knowing someday that he would be beat
But, for now, Perry and his Chevelle owned the street.
