Inspiring my love
Lenamarie Clark 1981 (Indianapolis,Indiana)
I don't write for sympathy. I write deep deliberately.
Stories you can picture visually,
Stories told differently.
I'll tell you about the trauma,
the suffering of my mama.
The things that I seen
We're nothing short of extreme.
I carried guilt on my young shoulders like big heavy boulders.
Too young to understand her behavior, sorry I wasn't there to save her.
I've battled many fights
and cried many nights.
But I know old keys won't open new doors, and I know old ways won't settle old scores.
She'd want me to educate and teach them through my stories i can reach them.
Helping people to understand
Some of us feel like we're damned.
She'd want me to encourage and inspire,be someone people admire.
Showing courage in the face of danger, being a listening ear to a stranger.
She'd want me to help others not feel so alone when in the crisis zone.
Just knowing someone else feels the same and shares the same pain.
She'd want me to never stop growing
and never lose hope of glowing.
Doing it all in the name of love,
With her blessings from up above.
For mama

About this poem
I wrote this for those who suffer from mental illness, im familiar with it as it runs in my family tree generation after generation. I won't stigmatized mental illness, this poem brings that to an end,I stand up to the disease. I'm loud and proud of who I am... I owe that to my dear mama may she rest in peace.
