I am a pretender, I know this is not me
But, to be or not to be?
If I am, I know I hurt
And if not, I am.
Quagmire of quandary I am in
Wondering to be or not to be.

Pretender I am, so where's the real me?
Hidden or lost or at sea!
If I hide, I know I lose
And if not, I do!
Could have, would have, should have
But it was simply not to be.

Nigh too far I am from me
Nay, this is not the real me
Sad but true
Cannot but rue
The pretender me over powering
And me fighting to be
Just simply to be!
