Jesus wants me more
As I lay down one night to sleep
I prayed for God my soul to keep
And if I died before I wake
I prayed for God my soul to take
As I lay there with my eyes closed
A sudden Shiver ran down my spine
As the panic in my chest arose
Holding my breath for the longest time
I almost screamed when he first spoke
And he reached and grabbed my arm
His eerie voice said" Stay calm now child, I don't mean you any harm".
Then slowly the lamplight in my room, came on slowly, but stayed so dim.
I held my covers tightly to me, as I focused in on him.
He smiled and said" I've been watching you"
" I can give you your hearts desires"
It was at that moment , I knew for certain,
This was the keeper of Hells fire.
His voice was so enticing, As he promised all I wanted.
He tried to tell me he was the answer to all my lifelong problems
When hed finished all hed had to say, He asked "Do we have a deal"?
His haunting arrogance was showing, for it was my soul he was trying to steal.
I sat up straight to answer him
And I held my head up high
With confidence I shouted "NO"!
And then I told him why.
" You show up here in the dark, sneaking your way through my door"!
" You must want me awfully bad".
" But Jesus wants me more"!
He looked surprised as I continued to speak, like he couldn't believe his ears
He thought for sure, he knew for certain, id let him claim my soul as his
" God may not give me all I want, But what he gives is for my good".
" And only he knows what my heart desires, more than even I ever could".
" So leave this house now Devil"! I shouted
" Or prepare to lose in war"!
" God has promised me life Eternal"
" For my savior wants me more"!
In the snap of a finger, he was gone,
Not believing he'd been defeated.
But what appeared before me next,
Was what I so badly needed.
As my Lord and Savior stood before me, I fell to my knees in tears.
I couldn't stop the tears of joy As he quickly calmed all my fears.
Christ came to me from Heavens throne, And he assured me I had my place.
When it's my time, Ill be beside him, Forever reeling in his grace.
The Devil should have known he'd lose
When he walked through my bedroom door
He came for something he could not have
All because JESUS wants me more.
