Monster
Oh Lord it is me again!
Constantly checking my reflection yet again.
Oh, they say I am vain, but no it is the monster I am looking for.
The monster that they describe.
Oh, they expect the worse of me, meanwhile I am simply doing my best.
Let me check again; our eyes meet.
With water in my eyes, I say to myself are you the monster they, see?
For all I see is a me that is tired of being strong.
A me that is imperfect but so full of love.
A me that has been broken more times than I can count.
But Lord they see a monster whom I know nothing about.
Wait do you mean to tell me the monster that they see is imperfect me?
About this poem
I feel a pain that only I can understand, I am all smiles and giggles. I’m an advocate for those I love but yet they expect the worse from me when all I strive for is to pour into those whom I care for. While they hold malice or judge me on a me that was young, lost, and so full of anger.
