Thoughts of the Manger

It was a cold and dreary night.
A couple came within my sight.
New Life was on the way.

Although the couple seemed quite tired.
Their peaceful ways left me inspired
As he looked for some hay.

The hay was put inside of me,
Where soon a Baby Boy would be
And life will start to change!

Quite soon the Baby came and cried
As if He knew He'd be denied
In thirty-three long years,

When "Crucify Him" was the choice
Of strangers who did raise their voice;
As Jesus shed some tears.

When He began to sleep above,
My frame on hay, I felt His love
And holiness for years.

I heard the couple say out loud,
The Baby would make God so proud
Fulfilling every prophecy.

They named Him Jesus as they gazed
At God's love and were so amazed.
This Child would set them free!
