The Prince of Peace Birth
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The people who walk in darkness,
Have been seeing a great light;
Those of who dwell in the starkness,
Upon them has been shining bright.
You have multiplied the nation,
And you have increased of its joy;
To reap show appreciation,
Divide the spoil to employ.
Because the yoke of your burden,
And the staff upon your shoulder;
By the Lord that has been broken,
Was the rod of your oppressor.
For each boot of a warrior,
Every garment is rolled in blood;
Makes the foes a worrier,
Of the potential of a flood.
They will be burned in a fire,
A sign that a child is born;
A Mighty God to acquire,
The Prince of Peace who will sojourn.
