see me

You tell me I look pretty
You say I always do
But when I’m getting ready you don’t see me in my room
Wondering if I’m good enough to be seen by even you
You don’t see me when I do
In the bathroom before bed
In the mirror when I’m smiling disgusted with myself
You only see the photos that I think I can share
You only see the me that thinks she doesn’t care

You don’t see me approaching my reflection filled with dread
You don’t see me the way I see me in my head
