Why?

Riley gray 2010 (Detroit)

Why?
                           By: Riley gray
Why won’t you talk to me?
I did nothing wrong.
You’re my favorite person.
My reason to live.
My reason to keep going.
You’re the reason why I quit.
So why?
Please just tell me.
I need to know why.
I shouldn’t have to be
Shut out by you for
Something that I didn’t
Even do.
I get things happen for a
Reason, and you may only
Be gone for another season,
But I know a little about
why you don’t talk to us  anymore.
I shouldn’t have to sit here and
Wonder, day and night,
Night and Day.
Wondering IF I did something wrong.
Wondering how to make it right.
I miss you more and more each day.
There’s nothing I can do to make it
Go away.
So please, just tell me why.
That one season can turn into
Multiple. The 365 days that you
Missed can turn into 1295. That
Time can go by in a flash.
And it feels as if it was just yesterday
That you went away for a year.
And knowing that you’re still here
May be the thing that hurts the most.
I want one more hi. One more bye.
One more hug, one more conversation.
I need to know why.
I know that you don’t care and that
May be the thing I can’t bare.
I just want to know why.

About this poem

My cousin hasn’t talked to his dad’s side of the family for a little over a year. I wrote this poem to express how I feel about the situation.
