A Veterans Lament
He sees the loss of innocence, the shattered dreams,
And the haunting echoes of silent screams.
Yet still, he fights, with unwavering resolve,
For he knows the cost of freedom's absolve.
In the aftermath, when the battles cease,
The good man reflects on the price of peace.
He mourns the fallen, the lives left behind,
And carries their memory within his kind.
For a good man knows that war is not the end,
But a means to protect, to defend and mend.
He strives for a world where peace can prevail,
Where swords are laid down, and love will never fail.
So let us honor the good man's sacrifice,
His unwavering spirit, his selfless advice.
For when a good man goes to war, we must see,
The strength and compassion that sets him free.
