The River
Ronald Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)
Its sparkling out yonder
In the fields where a river
Does lay. The farmers go
Out and feed the horses hay,
They clean up the mess.
Farmers like to play chess.
Rivers can be dirty, but
Horses and cattle don't
Mind. The workers on
The farm wonder what
They will find.
The farmers feed water
To the animals from
The well where its
Very plentiful and
Never dry. But the
Animals fly and they
Want the river,
That's sparkling,
And the workers
Never knew why.
The well is always
Clean and covered
From acid rain,
Don't let it be a bane.
The river is where
We catch fish
And unlike the wishing-well,
It's always a fair dish.
