You Let The Love Out
You Let The Love Out
You let the love out when you put me down
And everything you said was empty
As the space between you and me
First place became last for us
Forget about standing in line
Nothing else to wait for now
You gave me my walking papers
My bare feet say all I need to.
I love you is the worst thing you ever said
Smoke and mirrors have substance
Next to the ghost words you speak
And the ink washes beneath the rain
Your invisible hands imitate
The look in your absent eyes
Your lips are as cold as
Your heartless embrace.
Showers flow from my face into oceans
Collecting as the Sun disappears
And all my pictures of moments
Shared together now bleed in pain
Is there a cure for such sadness
And suffering broken into pieces
Numerous as the stars in the night sky
Or does morning promise a better day?
