The haunting Mirror

There's a lady that I see
Seems familiar to me
Yet she is old before her time
And the years have not been kind
A broken smile
With eyes so sad
Some trauma that
She must have had
Every morning when she wakes
Outstanding effort that she makes
Through the day
Hour by hour
She runs on her diminishing power
Then as dusk begins to fall
She tries to forget it all
Tomorrow may be a better day
Depending on what people say
Those eyes may flicker with a smile
As she goes the extra mile
Who is she? The lady I see?
Dark realisation that she is me

About this poem
