The Comfort of Christ
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I want you to be informed,
About those who are asleep;
Grieve not as others have mourned,
There’s hope for their soul to keep.
We believe Christ died and rose,
God will bring resurrection;
Fell asleep with faith in those,
Find a divine direction.
For I declare by the Word.
That we who are still alive;
After the trumpet is heard,
That believers will survive.
The Lord Himself will descend,
From Heaven crying to shout;
All followers must attend,
And in shedding any doubt.
Those asleep, the first to go,
After the Lord does ascend;
Those still alive will follow,
Existence of earth will end.
Whoever else that is left,
Together ascend to the clouds;
But the sinful set adrift,
Fiery end to those crowds.
Encourage one another,
These words that come from the Lord;
That your sister and brother,
Letting them not be ignored.
