The Run

Thoughts raced through an already cluttered mind
Creating its own white noise
Forcing life's harsh memories to remain concealed
Death mingling with life
Simultaneously existing deep within a soul

Swiftly, gently did the body move
Deep among the trees and vines
Bare feet drumming along the cool earth
Exhilaration settled within laughter
Surrounded by smiling flowers

Feelings of inadequacy trailing along velvet porcelain
Marked in black ink of hope
Running through the forest expelling dark energy
Crisp air fighting with the early sun's warmth
Soul hammering with the passion of existence along the path

Teetering on an invisible edge, drawn askew
Red spider lilies singing their song
Along the path of what seems to be true destiny
Malicious thoughts knocking, provoking
Death's embrace awaits expectantly

Indecision forming within heaving breaths
Methodical steps taken in haste
Swatting away the past while longing for the future
Stumbling to where the sun meets the shade
Co-existing in a twisted sense of harmony
As realization peeks in the dawning of the new day
