Hollow Prince

He sits in a chair  
polished with perfect shine  
He sees a creature through a window  
sweat-covered and rugged  
his heart races at its struggle  
finding beauty in its sparkling perspiration  
Heart pains at a life so undesired  
hand lifts the quill with a flourish  
dips it in fine ink to write fine words  
Words ornate but hollow  
A rose-tinted capturing of a life so unknown  
Written by a self-centered fraud  
a stranger to the creature's plight
