A journey back in time

Let’s take a journey back in time.
When life had rhythm When life had rhyme
When children would ride their bikes
in the summer sunshine
and buy penny candy with their nickels and dimes.
My mom would gather flowers with ease.
And hang out the laundry in the summer breeze.
she would cook bacon to put in the greens.
While us children played outside like kings and queens
My daddy would come home from work at four.
I can still hear him coming through the door.
My mom would greet him with love and kisses.
And tell him how the whole house missed him.
Dinner would smell so yummy and good.
And there all the children of the house stood.
Ready to take a seat at the table.
Yes we ate dinner we didn’t watch cable
then the children would go out and play
Cause mom and dad paved the way.
For the generations in time
Yes, life had rhythm yes life had rhyme.
Cause mom and dad took the time.
to love their children and make them shine.

About this poem

I wrote this poem after being asked to write a poem for Mother's Day. So, I said to myself I will take a journey back in time. As I recall my childhood memories I formed this poem. It includes the whole family. My history my memories
