Another Day

Another day like before,
Filled with noise, they talk,
Every minute of every hour,
My mind re-counts the past,
"As I come to the end of one life,
Is there another one to follow?"
I'm told. "There is a brand new day.",
Tomorrow, always tomorrow,
But as night falls,
I'm alone in the dark,
The house that once was a home is silent,
I feel a hunger in my heart,
The lump in my throat refuses to move,
I cry,
Not for the love I had and lost,
No, no, not for her,
For me, I cry for me,
I walk the rooms, the memories trapped,
The faces, the moods, the laughter, the tears,
It makes no difference, they all hurt,
I stand at the threshold of a new day,
A cold clear morning,
Sunshine chases across the Earth,
It reaches me, I feel its warmth,
I'm alive, do something, anything,
I turn my back on the house,
I leave for work,
Another day like before,
Filled with noise, they talk.
