Silver Mermaid

Her eyes shimmered under the moon light like pearls of the vast blue. They glistened with curiosity and desire as she wondered what it was. The little rays of light piercing into the sea from realms beyond hers. She looked up to the surface, her heart aching to know.

Drifting upwards, she followed the tide, swimming easily with its rhythm. The sea carried her freely, as if it were her companion.

Soon, she breached the surface, her head rising above the water. Her hair silk and silver like moonlight whispers framed a visage of enchanting allure, her skin inhumanly beautiful was nearly translucent under the silver light of the moon. She watched as the stars adorned the night sky like little twinkling lights etched on a canvas of nocturne black.

Content with what she saw, she fell back onto the sea, letting the water catch her and bring her to the surface once again. She bask her gracious tail in the moonlight reveling in her freedom.

About this poem

This is more of a short story based on an inspiration I had. I haven't been to the ocean or sea before, so I use pieces like this to visit realms I have yet to explore.
