leaf

a leaf falls from a tree, the wind sweeps it away;
it sees the streets below, the children out to play
the path seems never ending, pace is picking up;
it's not allowed to land unless the wind decides to stop

there's a pause in the wind for a moment;
the leaf falls into a river with the strongest current
it pulls the leaf further from its home;
only then did the leaf truly feel alone

the seasons come and go;
the leaf survived rain, sleet, and snow
becoming more and more withered over time;
in its dying breath it could see beautiful lights in the sky

i fell from a tree, wind sweeping me away;
see the streets below, the children out to play
the path seems never ending, pace is picking up;
am i allowed to land? the wind won't ever stop
