Returning Ransom
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The wilderness and the dry land,
Shall be glad for the falling rain;
The desert shall rejoice as the sand,
Blossom with flowers start to gain.
It shall blossom abundantly,
Rejoice with the joy and singing;
Glory by shouting fervently,
Because the Lord God is reigning.
Strengthen weak hand and feeble knees,
Say to those with an anxious heart;
Be strong and fear not as the trees,
God returns and foes will depart.
His vengeance will come to save you,
The eyes of the blind will open;
The deaf ears will hear what is true,
As the two-edged sword will sharpen.
The lame man shall leap like a deer,
The tongue of the mute starts to speak;
Showing to God laud and revere,
Waters break forth a path to seek.
Through the desert streams break forward,
The burning sand shall be a pool;
The beasts come honoring the Lord,
And bathe in water that is cool.
