A Silent Litany
A Silent Litany
The cold, wet breath of night drips its stalactites -
nature’s pyramidal spikes frozen in time.
Mountains mourn the loss of summer,
their faces veiled in white, hiding from the world,
lost in silent prayer.
Rivers course the troughs that force them to follow
nature’s pathways - oblivious to their cause.
Waves crash and ripple into shore,
their diamonds sparkling in the evening twilight,
lost in wear and tear.
This cycle of life wants us wonting what’s lost –
friendship’s forged from foreign realms then left scattered
to the winds of time and blown away.
When nature’s beauty loses pulchritude – then
and only then –
will we spend time again.
