Compass Bearings
For all the wrongs I have done
Many amends will never be won
I suffer the realities of what spun
Into a life so unlike what could have come.
Nothing wrong with you blaming me
I know and see the ashes of debris
In the wake of a mustang barbeque
Disapproving glares shot from you.
So carefully once all was planned with nothing
But air and a free expanse of time, of domain
And unfettered protection crammed so full of
Love that the dreams alone could break a dam.
Flowing, rolling laughter, spirits flying like a ride
Rollercoastered microempired deposing funeral pyre.
Jesters rule like lions drooling over the devoured slab
With blood soaked fangs unaware of choices they had.
It will continue from what I have seen
The nature of man the dejection screen
Full as it ever was with more stories
Than one human can understand or foresee.
Peace invented is better than no peace
This is all I know with so much road left for you
The only guarantee is part of it will cease
To be traveled by the tandem hearts of you and me.
