Poetry's Perseverance
A history of great minds have paved the way
But sadly poetry is lost today
It's sparse and seldom taught
And stigmatized as an illness caught,
It's swept under the rug
Like that heinous ill gotten bug
"stay away from me they proclaim"
For that is the least likely path to fame,
Fortune and riches are the aim
Far too masculine for poetry
Our society breeds insecurity,
For an art that is tossed
For an art that is lost
For an art that is for "others"
Personally I cannot fathom another,
The rest of the world will carry on
While my country spits upon
The poetry that liberates
All the while homeland deliberates
On the next country to attack
They cannot foresee that there's no turning back
For once you have made an enemy and invaded
You are inevitably hated
How can an empire set one free
When they devalue poetry
Peace, calm, thought and an endless passion
Are all a processed and made to ration
A coherent thought or stroke of brilliance
Captured in meter and rhythm, hence
I will wage a war for peace
That has bestowed a new lease
On my spirits, body and mind
Poetic sixth sense allows me to only see a bind
My society doesn't pretend what it's about
Warmongering leaves little doubt
Greed and poverty are all that I see
While the rich are capable they often flee
if they hear a poor man's plea
For the rich in America have made their decree...
Supposedly everyone has a chance
But that's not the case form a historian's stance
For the rich get richer, the poor, poorer
Somehow poetry was lost, the horror
I will have to forcibly rekindle
Poetry to not let it dwindle
I'd rather live a half life full of meter and rhyme
Than live without it for and endless time
I shall take responsibility
Since poetry is not an easy ability
That one can master
It's astounding it's not revered with all the disaster
That the media bombards us with vigorously
I will fight for poetry rigorously
I will not rest until my country is world renowned
I will write with up-most intensity until it is crowned
A poetic leader in today's global community
I'll need to be hard --working, intelligible and witty
Conclusively my beloved country has work to do
I've a trick up my sleeve, ancient voodoo
Leaders of the raging war
Would not be able to ignore
This entrancing poetry
Libeling them unmercifully
If the populous were to gather,
Unfortunately they'd rather
Put up more divisions than unite
Religion, views, politics all incite a fight
For poetry is lost today
In the country denoted U.S.A.
Another title, another label
I will continue writing as long as I am able
To dissuade the masses from endless slaughter
The world I speak of, my view is much broader
Poetry will pave the way
I will work my hardest to sway
The people of my influence, my nation
So that they may feel this sensation
Of feeling the world being reborn
Renaissance of the modern day for the war torn
History is endlessly repeating
Poetry will forever sing
Poets have proven this while the world is constantly changing.
