Sunk To The Depths
Hurricane winds increasing, wind jammer keeling
floors becoming ceilings, water takes on new meaning
ship turns turtle in a flash, all around galley bottles smash
lights black out with a crash, got to get out fast
day light streaming through an open door
struggle through what is now the floor
body oh so drained and sore
water surging in with a roar
drowning now a possibility, water rising above my knees
breath beginning to seize, why are they such cruel and callous seas
sea water now in my lungs, I can taste salt upon my tongue
feel so highly strung, my swan song is now sung
my life flashes before my very eyes
and I begin to cry
but I don't want to die
someone help, oh please try
water is now over my head, my prayers have now been said
I think, now I'm surely dead, float to the surface instead
after what seems an eternity a saviour gives my hand a squeeze
oh God thank you please, I am now so safe and free.
