Whirling Pinwheel

Ghostly swath across the sky
Luminous realm to the eye
Shimmering veil does portray
The galaxy: Milky Way

Whirling pinwheel made of stars
Of ten billion, one is ours
Warmth and brilliance of the sun
Horizon to horizon

Observe subtle shades and hues
Dim reds, yellows, whites and blues
Twinkling beacons dusk till dawn
Gossamer of sheer chiffon

Allegory, myth and sign
On heaven's dome in outline
Animals, heroes and gods
Shrouded, mystical facades

Glowing glimmers of the night
Fading fast with morning light
The earth has an interlace
With constellations in space
