The Sounds Between the Silence

John Townsend 1945 (Loughborough)

Does silence exist
amid those exposed moments
where you are led to believe
nothing exists
just utter silence.
I doubt it is true
for what is sound
but a frequency that vibrates
so does this planet
have a veritable hum
what an orchestra the Milky Way
must be.
Even Pierre Boulez
composed with the gaps
or silence
that existed between notes
as being important
yet he filled them with
ethereal nuances.
Maybe the great cosmos
is never still
just masked
by our own self will,
those background compositions
within the cosmos
are the sounds of silence
albeit vibrations of life
that never ends.

It has become habitual for me to play with words, even as I converse, I hear a poetic annoyance ready to pop out when quite honestly, no one would understand. Perhaps I have the advantage of seeing the streetlamps turned off by a man with a long pole, that I saw The Beatles on stage twice. That I conversed with Spike Milligan and touted my songs among the throng of Denmark Street in London. Well 1945 began this is me, still around, looking forward to The Bootleg Beatles in 2022. more…
