When I step from my study, all my titles behind,
A canvas meets my eyes, and therein peace I find,
Not in the halls of academia does my deepest pride unwind,
But a painting of just 2 colours bold and tender- a love 13 years kind.

So here I sit with weathered hands and hair of silver gray,
With memories my loyal friends, as I face each new day.
The tales of life, both happy, sad, I harbor no deny,
With tear-streaked face, I brave the dusk. My last cry and goodbye.
