The Diaspora Apostles
1 You are the sons of the earth
Forgotten from the human race;
2 You are the daughters of the flesh
Dwellers of the caves of guilt;
3 You are the children of the law
Piled by reason, burdened by passion;
4 You are the pilgrims of history
From the river of sin to the ocean of lament and pain;
5 You are the strangers cast away from the paradise
From the womb of ignorance to the tomb vengeance;
6 You are the believers lost in the sanctuary
Whose creed is crucified throughout eternity;
7 You are the soldiers of light in complete armor
But of no peace even a quiet place to rest;
8 You are only a shadow of one eternal soul
But whose faith is against the light;
9 You are the people of the Most High
But whose temple is a cold pillar of stones;
10 You are what you believe -
Fate or faith, flesh or spirit;
11 Your religion becomes but a covenant of the forgotten past
12 The commandments but, only a reference of a lost history,
13 The sacredness remains but, an outdated human enterprise,
14 Thus, your way of life is but, an insidious matter.
About this poem
1 The patriarchal culture, and the male dominant world across time and space has proven to be creator of development and progress in almost all aspects of society but, at times remains oppressive and manipulative culture therefore, should not be overrated and be excused from its stigma. 2 The assumed weakness – stereotype – of the female cannot be used against her but, her too much reactive impulse for equal-right, and recognition is, is pushed to loosen her ultimate value – feminine genius – turning into denial of what is natural to her feminine nature. 3 Humankind is gifted with intelligence to craft laws for peace and order. However, the less, the little, and the forgotten of our society is cursed from its sophisticated consequences. 4 The horizon of “man” is so insignificant in comparison with the whole created world therefore, it seems sad to die without leaving a legacy of morally productive life. Legacy could mean different to one person, and to another. 5 The “I” is never be an entity of “man,” and the “you” is not an option but, the “we” is the beginning of humanity. Therefore, “you and I” should start of being mindful of our connection as one. 6 Christianity in its highest expression means the union of the cause of Jesus of Nazareth (spirituality) and of “man’s” (rationality) – the revelation of the divine then is captured not only in faith but in every facet of human actions. 7 A follower of Jesus of Nazareth is likened to a soldier supposed to fight against his/her own demons, and in one way or another the evils that corrupted the society. 8 A difficult to claim – the true and only religion– what is divine is a mystery therefore, its ways will always be pointing to one direction “man’s salvation.” Although Jesus of Nazareth claimed he is the way, the truth, and life but, still no one has the control of the divine the its salvific plan for the entire created world. 9 The magnificent temples, churches, house of worships is only but, an external expression of “man’s” faith, the desire of man to express his awe and wonder about what the divine is to him. However, so many occasions that these precious buildings and edifices became the only center of his/her faith forgetting the most important yet basic foundation of all – the action and its morals. 10 In psychology we have these line “what I eat is what I become” and in spirituality “what I believe is what I become,” therefore, if my image of the divine is love I will practice love but, if anger and punishment so I become judgmental and punishing person. 11 The early followers of Jesus of Nazareth were not as sophisticated as today’s, they simply celebrate their faith and act upon it in solidarity. 12 The growing of membership of the followers of Jesus of Nazareth has impacted the how to maintain the unity and oneness of the faith amidst diverse tongues and cultures, and yet politics and economics slowly became conflicting issues in different ways among church leaders, and the faithful. 13 The human tendencies more than ever have elaboratively influenced the governance of the church, and later on leadership is based from wealth, power and influence in disguise of the “will of the divine”. Thus, the creation of the hierarchy shaped the social segregation among the members became prevalent. 14 The Diaspora Apostles, is a “critical” commentary on the complexity of the “Christian World”. I presented rather than sided neither the male nor the female point-of-view. I believed that the two countering protagonists received equal though unique purpose in the fulfillment of God’s salvific plan. Thus, the ethical, legal, psychological, and philosophical conflicts open up other wider dimensions observed by cultures and traditions which on the passing of time needs renewal to be directed solely to the attitude of Jesus of Nazareth, and to confront social issues that slowly deteriorating human dignity. more »
