Analysis of Turmoil

TURMOIL
For years you’ve tried to kill me
Constantly blurring my future so I can’t see
Always willing to be my crutch
To the light of my future, I try to clutch

You have never said no to me
Even though at times I wish you would leave me be
With you, I begin to hate myself
Watching us destroy my mental health

Wishing I had the courage to walk away from you
In hopes that someday I’ll forget about you
But I’m addicted to how you make me feel
All I have to do is break that seal

You transform me into a different person
Someone who thinks everything is fun
Without a care in the world
Being a coward no more

Waking the next morning confused and hurt
Come to find out with death I did flirt
At least so-called friends were amused
Just like in the days before this, I feel abused

The time has come to walk away from you
I have better things to do
I am refusing to drink from your bottle anymore
Now it’s time to kick in a new door

About this poem

This poem is about being addicted to alcohol and the way it makes you feel no pain, and having all the courage you could want 'til the bottom of the bottle.
