The Pause

Jeffrey Hopkins 1959 (Bay Shore, NY)

The Pause

By Jeff Hopkins

I take a pause to ponder life.
She's moving on much faster.
The way things are, I'm satisfied,
Just wish I could outlast her.

I've had a mixed bag of wondrous things,
A few I could not even dream of.
The places I've been, the things I have seen,
Like pallets of thoughts, dreams are made of.

But throughout all the while,
I am able to smile,
Throughout good times
and times that are bad.

It's a gift I was given,
As my life goes on living.
I keep bad from turning to sad.
